WOW-sponsored power boat clinic open to all club members age 18 and older.
About this event
You already know that driving a sailboat isn't like driving a car. Well, driving a power boat isn't quite like driving a sailboat. In this class we are just offering some general knowledge and practice time to help you feel more confident when it’s your turn to drive a club power boat.
TIME:
Coffee and donuts at 8:45am
Class from 9:00am to noon
50-minutes on each boat is goal.
LOCATION:
Meet in the Clubhouse Board Room at 9:00am
PREREQUISITES:
* Must be age 18 or older & a WCSC Club Member
* Completion of a boater safety course.

WHAT TO BRING:
* Your Boater Safety card
* A PFD/ Life Jacket
* Water, Sunscreen, and anything else you need to be on the water until noon
SCHEDULE:
- Talk time (shoals, buoy numbers, between islands driving, no-wake zone, emergency kill-switch cord, springlines, fuel, ignition keys, slow-medium-fast speeds, and anchor demonstration)
- Walk to race committee shed located near launch ramp and C-dock, where ignition keys are stored.
- Get fuel from fuel shed for each power boat, store temporarily at race committee shed.
- Conduct anchor demonstrations at launch ramp using Pontoon/Race Committee/Signal boat. Rich for Windlass. Michelle for manual. Students on dock.
- Return Pontoon to its stored location at C-dock and students return to race committee shed.
- Separate students into groups of 3.
- Choose which group goes to which power boat.
- Each student trio goes with guide, fuel, keys to their respective boat for first 50-minute session.
- Student trio no. 1 is on Whaler with Michelle. Whaler located at Junior dock.
- Student trio no. 2 is on Skiff with Allison. Skiff located at C-dock.
- Student trio no. 3 is on Pontoon with Rich. Pontoon located at C-dock.
- Each student trio to be on each boat for 50-minutes to start, leave dock, operate out into lake beyond breakwater, return to dock, end trip. While on boat students to rotate piloting boat, leaving/returning to dock, untying/tying up, starting/ending trip.
- Michelle on Whaler educates between island maneuverings.
- Allison on Skiff educates on buoy numbers
- Rich on Pontoon educates on shoals.
- Student trio to rotate to next boat for second 50-minute session and upon conclusion, go to last boat for third 50-minute session.
