Welcome to the 3^rd Running of WOWs Derby Dames Race for the Roses!

Dust off your best Kentucky Derby hat, decorate your boat (and your crew) with your finest WOW spirit, and come join us for this budding event.
The roses are blooming. The ponies are running. The sails are filling.
Let’s go outside and play!

What you need to know

Eligibility and Entry:

The regatta is open to all sailboats. Entrants must pre-register online here no later than Wednesday, April 30th. After April 30th a late fee will apply.
Since this is a pursuit start race, we need to know before the day of the event what boats are racing in order to calculate a start time and have the competitor packets ready.
If a boat shows up to race without having pre-registered online by April 30th she will be allowed to race; however, she will be assigned the rating of the pre-registered boat that is next fastest to her.

Courses and Classes:

There will be two courses, both using government marks. All boats will follow a pursuit start sequence.

Short Course - Dinghy Class, boats 14 feet long or less: There will be one fleet, Dame at the helm, single or double handed.

Long Course - Distance Class, all other sailboats: There will be three fleets including All-Dames boats, Dame at the Helm, and Dame as Crew.

Fleet Instructions:

For Dame at the Helm fleet, each racing sailboat must have a female at the helm throughout the duration of the race.
For Dame as Crew fleet, each racing sailboat must have a female participating on the boat throughout the duration of the race.

Fees for Party Passes

If pre-registration completed by April 30th

Free for WCSC members and guests. Contribution of an appetizer for the party is welcome!
$10 for competitors coming from other clubs, payable online or at the door.

If pre-registration completed after April 30th

$10 for WCSC members and guests. Contribution of an appetizer for the party is still welcome!
$20 for competitors coming from other clubs, payable online or at the door.

* Pre-register a boat to race: Select this if you are pre-registering a boat to race whether you are a member or not a member.⛵

*Party Pass for WCSC Members: There is no fee before May 1st but we need to know how much food to make.😋

* Non-members party pass: Only select this if you are attending the regatta and you want a party pass but you are not a member of WCSC or a guest of a member of WCSC .

0900 - Final Registration/ Check-In
1000 - Registration/ Check-In Ends
1015 - Competitors’ Meeting
1200 – Expected start of delay time clock
1630 - Party! - Heavy Hors D'oeuvres. BYOB. Mint Julips, Sodas, and Water Provided.

Hatty Hour Hat Judging

Kentucky Derby post time set at approx 6:57pm EDT

Awards and Other Accolades will be Presented to the Following:

1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each fleet for dinghy class and distance class
The boat decorated with the most WOW Spirit
Most Fabulous Hat
Budding Regatta Roses: First time at the helm or first regatta
Recognition of Father/Daughter and Mother/Daughter Teams
Recognition of all Junior Dames
