Fairshare Hours

WCSC Fairshare Hours

Per our Rules and Regulations, each member unit is required to work a minimum of 10 hours per year for the benefit of the Club. New members are excused from five hours in the calendar year in which they join if they join before July 1st. If they join after July 1st, they are excused from the whole ten hours for that calendar year.  If hours are not done during the calendar year, a fine of $50 per hour not done will be charged to your account.

What Qualifies for Fairshare?  (Per Rules/Regs) Any work that benefits the Club shall qualify provided their time is reported to the responsible person who assigned the project and is approved in advance by a flag officer or committee chair.


Other Ways to receive Fairshare

  • Workdays (4 hrs each) - We schedule 6 workdays throughout the year. Check the Calendar

  • Hosting Holiday Events (10 Hrs) - Crockpot Cookoff, Commissioning/Annual Banquet, Memorial Day Party, Labor Day Party, Ahoy Fall, Christmas Party. (for more information ask our Entertainment Chair)

  • Sailing Race Events (setup, cleanup, food prep, etc) - Dam Distance Race, Derby Dames Race, Around Andersonville Island Race, Hospice Regatta, Thistle Regatta, Parade of Lights

  • Junior Sailcamp (too many to list)

Committees That Need Extra Help

  • House Committee Chair (10hrs) keep supplies stocked, coordinate maintenance needs, etc

  • Club Sailboat Maintenance Team - We have many boats for members to use but they need all require maintenance and we need more helpers

  • Club Powerboat Maintenance Team - keeping our powerboat fleet working for all events and needs is a big job and we need more helpers.

  • Archiving Project - we are scanning all of our hard documents and need some more members that can scan.

We ask that members complete or have scheduled/approved projects (through the end of the year) by December 1st to allow everyone equal time off for the holidays.
